ABOUT
Hello! I'm Abbey.
I am a journalist - I cover topics that are specific to and go beyond community news, local government, politics, cultural and gender diversity, criminal justice, environmental issues, and mental health.
I have fresh ideas and the ability to transform stories into innovative packages. During my most recent year of postgraduate study, I had the opportunity to learn from a group of journalists and multimedia experts who more than prepared me for a career in the media. I am equipped with the experience to thrive in a newsroom and have produced a number of publishable stories which are a testament to my ability. I am capable and driven and leap at the opportunity to prove this in a news media environment.

Internship
Stuff - The Dominion Post/The Hutt News
As part of my postgraduate course, I was required to organise two internships during the year, one in June and my most recent in October. During these placements I produced stories for both Dominion Post and Hutt News, some included video elements and all had photographs included - most taken by myself. Throughout my course, I pitched multiple stories to Stuff and successfully had them published, including a few with videos created entirely by me.
